Focus on the future
The College and Career Club welcomes students from every grade, 9 – 12, to join. This club started when club adviser, Ms. Sandy Anderson, started working at Armijo High School in 2014. The club is run President Victoria Lawson, Vice President Nate Klassen, Treasurer Jaspreet Sidhu, and Secretary Hanna Kildow.
The content of the meeting depends on the “season.” When it is it is “college season,” for instance, they talk about college applications, a school’s profile, and the requirements for that college. During “scholarship season” on the other hand, they feature a scholarship. Each of the officers talks about ways to receive a scholarship. Sometimes, they have guest speakers visit who speak to the club members.
The College and Career Club has meetings every Friday at lunch in A-3. They attempt to go on field trips every year, too. In the past, they have visited Stanford, UC Berkeley, Sonoma State and more. They are hoping to travel this year after they have worked out some of the funding issues.
“Students should join because they will receive a good amount of information that will help them get into college or career that they desire,” said Ms. Anderson
