A star on the dance floor
One of Jose Escobedo’s favorite memories is when Chapkis dance traveled to Los Angeles to perform in the World of Dance competition. The team didn’t win first place, but they did finish toward the top, and that made Escobedo smile.
“My mom motivates me to keep dancing and it’s really fun to learn new dance moves,” Escobedo said. He started dancing when he was six years old and truly enjoys dancing with Chapkis Dance Family in Suisun City. He looks up to two other dancers at his studio , Sean and Julian. “I like the way they move so smoothly,” he said. “I feel like they’re timeless inspirers.”
When he first started dancing, it was challenging and he couldn’t figure out how to do the dance moves but he has since learned a lot and said that he wouldn’t want to dance or join at any other studio. Chapkis continues to tour with their routine and, on October 23, they performed during halftime at the opening game for the Dallas Mavericks.
