Lunchbox Friends was written by Melanie Martinez. It is the eighth track on her album K-12, and featured in her full-length video by the same name. The album and the video were released on September 6. While it has some inappropriate language, the song is one that I relate to on a personal level. A “lunchbox friend” is the type of person who only hangs out with someone to get some sort of popularity or status, but talk about their “lunchbox friend” behind his or her back. “I feel like this song really relates to today’s society and how people act towards the people they call friends,” said Taylor Tucker. “This song really hits me because it tackles the main problem in today’s high school society and it’s a very big problem,” said Christa DeLaTorre.
