Military candidates follow a series of steps
Joining the military is a great opportunity. Many people join the military rather than going to college, but it is also a great idea for people who are simply interested in the military. Military members will be serving the country and it provides a great life experience. However, for those planning to join the military, there are a few very important requirements to consider.
First, to join the military candidates must be United States citizens. Those without the proper credential showing that they are legal residents of the United States will be denied.
Second, candidates must be between the ages of 17-34. This is the time of life where individuals are most physically fit, providing the opportunity to share the best physical performance.
Third, candidates must have a high school diploma. A general education development (GED) diploma is accepted if there are spaces available.
Fourth, no more than two dependents must rely on the potential military recruit. A dependent is a relative who is financially dependent on someone, like a child or a spouse.
Fifth, candidates must take and pass the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test. This is a multiple choice test that determines the qualifications to join the armed forces and is offered twice a year at Armijo, in October and in February. Candidates must also pass a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) medical exam. This exam is meant to examine a person’s medical history to determine his or her physical abilities, which will definitely play a huge part in military performance.
There are many requirements for joining the military, but nobody who is qualified should let that stop him or her. The military is a great experience for anyone who is physically capable and interested in the armed forces.
