A music artist on the road to success
When one thinks of art, images of paintings, drawings and sculptures come to mind, but people often forget that we also refer to musicians as artists and as artists they are often more well-known than visual artists.
Billy Joel, for instance, has been performing for decades. His first album, Cold Spring Harbor, was released in 1972 and his fourth album, 52nd Street, was actually the first commercially available CD, released in 1982 in that format, although first released in 1978. In some circles, Billy Joel is a more familiar artist than Michelangelo or Picasso.
Billy Joel’s 52 nd Street is full of songs in the jazz and rock genre. There are a total of nine songs on the album and each lasts around four minutes long. Some of the songs may be familiar, and one song, Honesty, was recently referenced in a commercial.
As an artist, Billy Joel has produced over a dozen albums, won two Grammy awards for his music, and continues to tour for sold-out audiences, even though his last solo album was released in 1993. 52 nd Street has a diverse style because the songs switch up from jazz to pop music. It may not be your type of music but you can tell that he put effort into his songs. Overall, Billy Joel produced a unique album.
