Exotic pets are great conversation starters
Most of us have at least one wild animal that we are in love with, but some people take their love to the next level and actually own those animals as pets. Dogs and cats are the most popular pets in the world, but people aren’t limited to just those animals; if you have the right license, you could even own a chimpanzee!
All states have different laws regarding exotic pets, but with just a little bit of research, almost anyone could obtain a license to own some kind of exotic pet. For example, most states in America will allow people to own a capybara, fennec fox, wallaby, ball python, or even a chimpanzee, as long as they have signed the legal documents allowing the ownership of that animal. However, if these animals aren’t exciting enough, there is always something even crazier.
Mark Dumas is a professional animal trainer who has a very dangerous pet. He is the only man in the world who can swim freely with a polar bear! He raised Agee the polar bear since she was just a cub, so she is very affectionate toward him and never shows any signs of aggression.
If bears aren’t your thing, maybe you’re more of a cat person. Over at a wildlife park in South Africa, a human woman has become a member of a lion pride. She helped take care of them ever since they were little cubs, so they see her as another part of their pride. The lions even let her cuddle with them. Who wouldn’t want to take a cat nap with a real lion?
If you aren’t interested in owning an animal so dangerous, maybe you could try a wolfdog. Wolfdogs are dogs that have an above average percentage of wild wolf DNA. Certain percentages are illegal to own, but many lower percentages can be kept as pets, sometimes even without a license, in California and most other states.
You should, of course, be cautious when dealing with exotic animals, but with the right research and the right license, you could own the pet of your dreams!
