A Highest Honors Ceremony
On Thursday, May 16, 130 students from Armijo, Fairfield and Rodriguez joined together at the Fairfield Community Center to represent the brightest and best that the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District (FSUSD) has to offer.
This annual celebration honors the district’s most lauded seniors, those whose years of education has culminated in impressive GPAs that often lead to awesome scholarships and, sometimes, even full-rides to prestigious colleges and universities around the country.
“Representatives of Fairfield and Suisun City, Solano County, the Fairfield-Suisun Chamber of Commerce, the California School Employees Association, and state and federal legislators were on hand to hand out a pile of certificates of honor, achievement and accomplishments,” Ian Thomas of The Daily Republic wrote in an article printed in their publication on Friday, May 17.
FSUSD Superintendent Kris Corey told Thompson that it was one of her favorite events of the year. “This reminds me of why we are in this business,” said Corey in the interview for The Daily Republic. Both Harry Price, mayor of Fairfield, and Lori Wilson, mayor of Suisun City, were on hand to praise the students and their parents for years of commitment and hard work.
