CD Review: Billie Eilish Pulls it off Again

Have you been living under a rock lately? If not, then you have probably heard of Billie Eilish, the 17-year-old pop-alternative singer that has taken the world by storm.

Billie Eilish has gained a strong following just from a few singles and an EP, but her fan count skyrocketed when she released her very anticipated album When We All Fall Asleep Where Do We Go? In an interview with Zane Lowe, Eilish revealed her meaning behind the album. “The album is basically what happens when you fall asleep. For me, in every song in the album, there’s sleep paralysis. There are night terrors, nightmares, lucid dreams,” she said.

Eilish continued to speak about her problems with night terrors and sleep paralysis. In the same interview, she said that each song has a correlation with a dream of hers.

Overall, the album was not a breakthrough, but it was extremely enjoyable and it will definitely be on repeat for the rest of the month. The album had a great mix of upbeat songs and more “in my feels” songs as well.

One thing that Eilish did do in her album was create an amazing outro; in most albums the albums end abruptly and fail to tell a complete story or overall feeling of the album but her goal was to take her carefully thought-out project and culminate it with her song Goodbye.

In an interview, Eilish said, “I really wanted something to feel like a finish line, to feel like a period at the end, you know? So the idea was to have that ‘Please, don’t leave me be’ right at the beginning, and then basically the rest of the song is every single song on the album, starting from the bottom to the top. And then when it gets to the top, it just kind of dies down and it feels like it’s a goodbye.”

The album includes lots of good beats and lyrics. Stream When We All Fall Asleep Where Do We Go? now on all music services
