Laws and Acts Protecting Digital Privacy
Today what we do on the internet can leave a digital footprint to our personal internet history, but these laws and acts back protect our digital privacy:
The Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, created in 1984, restricts the access and sharing of private documents. It was later reformed to associate with current technology.
The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), created in 2000 and later changed in 2012, focuses on determining if a website is suitable for children. Using the language, content, graphics, and advising of the website the Federal Trade Commission can determine if it’s really appropriate for children.
The Trans-Pacific-Partnership Agreement (TPP) focuses on the international level of sharing information with nine countries along the Pacific Rim.
