Back to School Night was held on Thursday, September 1 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Traditionally, students dislike Back to School Night because it gives their parents a chance to meet their teachers and talk about how their sons/daughters are doing in classes. During the evening the parents went to their children’s classrooms and learned what goes on during class. As in recent years, parents attempted to follow their child’s schedule, not an easy task with a limited five-minute passing period. Some parents had the additional challenge of trying to follow the schedules of two or more children in the brief time that each class was allotted.

Teachers prepared for Back to School Night by setting up their classrooms and deciding what to share in the brief 14 minute period. Parents got to see what was being taught, how it was graded and how their children are responding to that material, but they also get to talk to the teachers to tell what is special about their children. Some teachers gave extra credit to students who brought their parents, which gave kids a motive to bring them.
