“I would encourage any person contemplating on getting involved in sports to join,” said junior varsity volleyball player Noelani Davis. “Sports allow you to create amazing bonds with your teammates and coaches. Through sports you discover many different things about yourself and what you want to do.”

Davis has a strong passion for volleyball. “I began playing volleyball in my fifth year of elementary school,” she said. She has played for Holy Spirit school and Club Solano and, this year, she plays for Armijo.

“I hope to play volleyball throughout my college career,” Davis said. “One college I would like to attend would be the University of Hawaii.” She hopes to pursue a career in the medical field.

“My most memorable game was last year (with Holy Spirit). We were playing a school called St. Catherine’s and it was the championship game. I remember being in the third set, the score was 13 – 14. We were losing and then it was my turn to serve. I stood there on the endline, tears running down my face. I was scared at the thought of failure. I aced the next three serves, so the final score was 16 – 14,” said Davis. “After winning, I remember bursting into tears of joy. This game meant a lot to me because it was the last time I would play with the girls who were there for me since the beginning of my career as a volleyball player.”

Davis brought her love for the sport with her from Holy Spirit, but she has a passion for Armijo that shows in her dedication to Leadership and her desire to making this campus a better place. “I feel that the overall campus is dirty and unsanitary. Also, some students are incredibly disrespectful towards staff members and other students.” She hopes that awareness and acknowledge of these issues would help lead to change. “My role model is Mother Teresa,” said Davis. “I admire Mother Teresa for her generosity and because she always put other people’s needs before her own.”
