The past is back in fashion

Retro fashions are making a comeback with popular denim-on-denim, colorful windbreakers, and more. While these styles can be found on the rack at all of the major retailers, they have an added advantage. Retro clothes are also available – and at good prices — at thrift stores.

The biggest trend right are the 80s and 90s. 80s fashions were all about  bright colors, while the hair was big and make-up was everywhere! The decade made a comeback when retail stores started selling colored pants and having bright colored t-shirts and now everyone wants their clothes to pop in yellows and greens.

The 90s was known for baggie clothes, with everything oversized: denim jackets, flannels, jeans. While it was relatively new two decades ago, it is new to the current generation and the fashions are regaining their former popularity.

Caleb Post doesn’t really shop for retro clothes. He said that he likes the styles from the 60s and 70s where they experimented more on their style in clothing than in earlier years. Post is more clean cut type of guy; he don’t really into the bad boy look. “More Fresh Prince of Bell Air-type of style than the Greasers,” he said. He normally shops at Kohl’s and for more modern retro looks, he likes flannels and sweatshirts, a more comfy look. “My style is Converse, some jeans and a jacket,” he said.

For Edema Reyes, the 50s and 60s were the best time, where people wore whatever they wanted. Reyes leans more towards the bad boy look as his fashion choice. “The 90s like overalls, ripped jeans, and chokers” are some of his favorite modern-retro crossover looks, he said. He also looks for bright colors because they highlight his personality. “I’m not really stylish right more of a jacket and pants type of guy,” said Reyes.
