November 2017: Sibling Spotlight | The Trio of Boyds

This school year, there is a student with the last name Boyd in each class. While senior Ashley Boyd is not related to the others, Elijah, Lamatius-Elijah, and Jasmine are siblings and represent grades nine, ten and eleven respectively.

For Jasmine, going to the school with her younger brothers is a good feeling because she gets to see them every day. She said that she likes that her siblings always cheer her up when she’s down. They sometimes see each other around campus, but sometimes they don’t really talk. She doesn’t have any classes with them but her brothers have the PE at the same time. Most of their friends know that they are siblings, but not everyone does.

Lamatius said that sharing the campus with his brother and sister isn’t so bad because” they’re cool.” He said that being on the same football team with his brother is one of the fun things about sharing the campus with him, but what bothers him is that one of his siblings can get annoying and sometimes, although he wouldn’t admit who it was that might snitch on him.

While he doesn’t really talk to his siblings often, Elijah said that going to the same school with his siblings is cool. He said that his siblings are pretty cool, but sharing the campus has both a positive side and a negative side. “They do too much, sometimes,” he said, “but they can be cool by helping me.”

Jasmine will graduate in 2019 and she said that she’s not going to miss her brothers when she leaves high school, and Elijah feels somewhat the same. Lamatius, however, said that he will miss her when she leaves and he’ll also miss Elijah when he himself graduates, because he likes seeing them at school.

While she doesn’t intend to miss seeing them on campus after graduating, Jasmine did say that, for now, it makes her day to see them. She also said that she will miss the memories of spending time with them at home and nobody can replace them.

These three are not the first Boyds in the family to go to Armijo, nor are they the last. They also have a younger sibling who currently attends Crystal Middle School.
