Ms. Noni Guevara started working as an Art teacher at Armijo in the fall of 2021, but she was here as a student in the years before. She first started getting into art when she was 15 years old, and years later she decided to become a teacher. She decided to become an Art teacher because she felt it was a way more interesting subject to teach.

She already had some experience with the Armijo, as she graduated from the campus in 2015. “I actually took Photography when I went here, with Mr. Clark. I took Photo 1 and Photo 2. I got to use the dark room and shoot on film. Then Photo 2 was learning Photoshop and digital photography,” she said. She loved those classes and learned a lot about art and composition as a result.

“I have always been creative growing up. My mom took art classes at Solano CC and she always fueled my sisters’ and I creative endeavors,” said Ms. Guevara. “My partner is also an artist and he has really helped me over the past couple years when I finally decided to pursue being an Art Teacher. I would love to see a Photography elective come back to Armijo and be offered for students.”

While she was here, she was on the badminton team and, being in a sport made her feel more connected to the school. It was one of her interests as a student, and she likes to use the interests of her students to motivate them, incorporating many cultures.

Ms. Guevara earned her degree from Sac State in 2020.

While she enjoys sharing her love of art with her students, she has a lot of other interests as well. She loves to spend time with her kids, go hiking, and play video games on her PS5. She said that, if she wasn’t teaching art, she would probably teach math.
