Christian Jeric Jason Ordonez started working his first job, at Men’s Wearhouse in Fairfield, on May 30, after last year’s prom. Not many people tend to enjoy their jobs but Ordonez enjoys it more than anything.

While at work, he normally measures people, gives fashion advice, takes rentals and helps people with what they need to purchase. He also has a great relationship with his managers and coworkers. “I love working at Men’s Wearhouse because I get to give fashion advice and I like wearing suits all the time, so it makes me happy that people like my fashion choices for suits and all that,” Ordonez said.

Some benefits that Men’s Wearhouse employees can receive are scholarships and a 40% discount on retail items and rentals, as well as a family and friends discount. TailorBrands, the parent company for Men’s Wearhouse, provide scholarships.

“Some challenges that I came across was taking a group rental for a wedding for the first time,” said Ordonez. “It was hard and I still think it’s hard because I haven’t been working much.” For the past several months he had been working with Armijo Theatre Productions on the spring show, ‘The Addams Family Musical.’ He has the lead role of Gomez, and focusing on the musical has caused his work hours to be cut short. Theatre is one of his passions, however, so it was a good sacrifice to make.

Ordonez plans to continue working as a salesman at Men’s Wearhouse after high school, but not for the rest of his life. He may work longer if he lands a managerial position.

In addition to work and theatre, he enjoys playing video games, riding his scooter around town, rollerblading and playing D&D on the weekends with his friends.
