David Hernandez is a sophomore who transferred from Will C. Wood and now plays for the Armijo High School Varsity soccer team.

Born in Colombia, Venezuela, Hernandez has been playing soccer for most of his life. He first found himself dribbling across the field at the age of 4, thanks to his father who introduced him to the sport. As a Royal, Hernandez plays a few positions: central midfielder, central attacking midfielder, striker, and sometimes left winger.

Hernandez said that this team is different from other teams he’s played on because his teammates work hard together to win the match; they have good teamwork already and they worked to get it. For workouts and warmups his team spends some time stretching to get loose, and after that they practice framing with passing to be ready for their next game. The teammates get along very well and it is a strong time that others definitely need to look out for.

Hernandez recommends that others try out for soccer because “it’s fun. You can make friends, and it’s good for your health,” he said.

Going to practice and staying in good shape are things he enjoys. He also enjoys being on his phone and playing video games. He wants to attend UC Davis because it’s close to home, but that’s a few years in the future.
