Royals hit it out of the park to win against #1 team.

Armijo baseball had an Away game at Vanden on Tuesday, April 5. The sport is still in the meat of the schedule, with the Royals facing Vanden who is ranked #1 in the section and #21 in the state. The Vikings were undefeated at 13-0 coming into the game.

Armijo has been struggling so far this season, losing the previous four league games to accumulate a 1-6 league record (4-9 overall). The boys are still working hard and coming to practice with their heads up and it is paying off. At the game, the Royals beat Vanden 11-6.

Armijo’s 4, 5, 6 hitters (TJ Lipkins, Jacob Reguera, and Brayan Orrantia Rivera) went 9 for 11 with three doubles, a triple, and 10 RBI’s. Justin Lundberg had another stellar performance on the mound.

It was a really nice team win considering the Royals’ starting shortstop was on vacation for two weeks for Spring Break. Coach Casey Towner said that he is proud of the boys’ resolve and perseverance as the season was beginning to look bleak.

Armijo finishes the series against the same difficult Vanden team Thursday, April 7 at 4 pm  at Armijo.
