Armijo softball won its home and league opener Wednesday, March 16, against Will C Wood 2-0.

Senior Mylina Garza, a Cal Poly commit, pitched the shutout win, allowing only three hits and striking out eight.

The Royals came out swinging in the first inning with freshman, Charlotte Spears leading off with a double. She was moved to third by freshman Sophia Arias, and scored on Mylina Garza’s single to left field. In the third inning, Mylina Garza put the Royals on the board again with a solo home run.

The Royals held Wood’s attack in the later innings by playing spectacular team defense.
