On Tuesday, February 8 from 4 – 6 pm, and Wednesday, February 9 from 3:30 – 6:30 pm, the Armijo Theatre Club will be hosting try-outs for the Spring Musical of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. “It is a fun and quirky musical about kids who are competing in a spelling bee and it will have a cast of about 15 students,” said Theatre teacher and Club Adviser, Ms. Sheena Beeson in a January 18 email. “If you’re interested in performing in the show, you will need to audition. We will also need people working in backstage positions. There will be sign-ups for that, too.”

Ms. Beeson will send out an email that allows students to schedule their times to audition. Each prospective performer will prepare an audition song snippet between 30-second and one minute-long. While ideally it will be something familiar from a musical, it can be as simple as singing the ABCs.

Many students are already familiar with this particular musical because on because a recorded version of the play was shared in T-2 at an event on Wednesday, January 19, from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm. “It was great to watch a version of the musical they would be auditioning for soon,” said Theatre Club Publicist Olivia Mauk.

We have opportunities for students to audition to play a part in the show. We also have opportunities for students to work on the backstage elements of the show.
Sign-ups for both possibilities are linked below.
