First, there was a fire in the kitchen that closed The Athenian Grill for business while they made repairs. As they were struggling along, COVID hit and created issues with the renovations. When restaurants were able to open again, the Greek dining establishment had issues with finding employees, but in October the restaurant opened its doors to rave reviews.

In December, Michelle S. shared on Yelp this review:

“Oh my gosh they are back and better than ever!!!  Finally!!! Their hours are shortened but the food is just as good if not better than I remember.  It has been years since I had a gyro on the level of Athenian Grill’s.

It was beautiful inside,  the interior was remodeled after the fire and there’s definitely a lovely modern look to the dining room, but it still has those blue hues that are native to Grecian culture.  I loved the upgraded patio with the lighting and the optional open doors.  The baklava was marvelous and the service was also outstanding.  We will put Athenian back into our rotation for GREAT FOOD in Solano County once again.”
