Suisun City Winter Art Gala invitation

Calling all artists, young and old, Suisun City needs you!

Suisun City’s Recreation, Parks, Marina and Arts Commission is responsible for recommending to the City Council policies on matters pertaining to public parks and facilities, public recreation, open space, and public right-of-way beautification projects. They also assist in the planning, development and review of recreational facilities, public parks, public recreation, and services managed or provided or offered through the Recreation, Parks, and Marina Department to meet the needs of the community.

The Friends of Suisun City Recreation is a non-profit organization with the mission of providing funding the Recreation, Parks, and Marina Department in Suisun City. Through various fundraising events, grant opportunities and generous donations, they are able to provide much needed equipment and opportunities to youth and senior recreation activities. Funding also provides the ability to enhance play spaces in our park system as well as supporting public art programs in the community.

The City of Suisun City’s Recreation, Parks, Marina, and Arts Commission, in conjunction with the Friends of Suisun City Recreation, are excited to announce a call for artist participation in the first annual Winter Gala for the Arts. The event is scheduled for Friday, December 3, from 6 – 8 pm at the Joseph Nelson Community Center. All proceeds from this event will directly support public art in Suisun City and highlight amazing artists from Northern California. The commission is seeking artists who are interested in displaying their creation at the event with the ability to sell directly to those that attend the event.

Artists will be provided a 10’x10’ space to display their artwork but must provide all display racks that are necessary. Artists will be provided with one 8’ table and two chairs for the art exhibit. There is no monetary entry fee, but the commission is requesting a donation of an art piece that will be auctioned off to those in attendance. The funds raised at the auction will be used specifically for local public art programming.

Artists interested in participating should contact Kathleen Shrader at 707-421-7200 or via email at [email protected].
