The Armijo High School Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) is celebrating LGBTQ+ History month this October by sharing information about icons, historical figures and civil rights leaders.

October is a great time for teachers to incorporate lessons about a community that has been marginalized and often completely left out of our history books. GSA loves October, but all year round we work to be inclusive. Our club mission statement has always been: “The members of the club hope to increase awareness and acceptance on campus and in the community, especially for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning/queer students and their friends and support systems. Through club activities, we would like to bring together people of many backgrounds and support each other in our social and educational goals. The club is open to anyone who supports and advocates for LGBTQ+ youth and their families.”
