This album can make you move!

One of my favorite albums recently is Pip Paine (Pay the 5000 You Owe) by Metronomy. It’s quirky in every way, and I always like listening to it. The album itself feels like a warm summer walk, and every song is unique in instruments and feeling. That may not sound like much at first, but it’s an amazing listen if you open your mind up to it.

The album opens up with a chaotic riot of a song, You Could Easily Have Me, but don’t be fooled. After the guitar riff and the crashing cymbals, the stringy synths come in, making the song even better, mixing rock with electronic. Love Song for Dog gives you a break from it, sounding like a happy romp through your neighborhood. Danger Song doesn’t sound like much at first, but it begins to sound like something a six-year-old would make…if that six-year-old had incredible talent. Like You Could Easily Have Me, it all gets better once the synth kicks in.

Bonus tracks are included, and they’re also quite strange, but good. Are Mums Mates is my personal favorite. Among other things, the abrupt ending and wonky instruments make it just like the rest of the album: fun. Another Me to Mother You is especially happy-sounding, and a good send-off, leaving you there with a great big smile on your face.

Maybe it doesn’t sound like your thing, but it’s worth at least a listen!
