Key Club is part of a larger international organization called Kiwanis, which focuses on volunteerism and service.

On the high school level, Key Club’s purpose is to provide members with opportunities for service, build character, and develop leadership. Key Club teaches students many useful characteristics and helps them develop organization, and teamwork skills that are beneficial in their lives. It also educates them on ongoing, global issues.

Because of Key Club, teens can develop into useful members of society and encourage others to do the same. It spreads the idea that service is unselfish and helpful for the community.

Members come to virtual Key Club meetings at lunch on the first and last Tuesdays of the month. Join the Google Classroom at rpthpap or go directly to the Meet at . At these meetings, they present slideshows with various information on Key Club events and some outside service opportunities.

Key Club specifically has not hosted any events this year besides the virtual meetings, however, they have shared news about larger virtual Key Club events. At these events, students have met with Key Club members from schools like Rodriguez, Fairfield, Vallejo, Benicia, and more! Many club members have made cards for their teachers, and before Spring Break they were making them for firefighters.

According to Melissa Theodorus, the Key Club tech editor, the Key Club leaders have tried to make the virtual meetings as interesting as possible. Some examples of service activities that they have shared include the Thank You Cards, tutoring, , , and many more! These all count for service hours that some students might need.

There are absolutely no requirements to join Key Club, but to be an official Key Club member in the eyes of the international organization, you would need to pay a $12 fee.
