Mr. Brown and his family will officially become part of the Armijo family in August.

In an email, Mr. Brown shared that he was excited about stepping into the position of principal and adding to “the building blocks you all have set and identify new growth areas for our school community.

Mr. Brown has already met some of the people that make up the Armijo family when he visited the campus on the Tuesday before Spring Break. He talked to staff members and a few students. The campus is beautiful, staff positive, students polite, and I felt the love and positive energy upon stepping on campus,” he said.

In the email, Mr. Brown shared that he is a transplant from Southern California where he attended Santa Monica Junior College. From there, he transferred to Alcorn State University in Mississippi, one of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). He I played football at Alcorn State, and met his wife there, too, although she had also grown up in California. “My wife is a Fairfield native who graduated from Fairfield High School and coached the Volleyball team for five to six years before our first child,” Mr. Brown said

The Browns have three young children: Charleston Hasson Brown Jr. (6), Caleil Dean Brown (3), and Caliana Ade Brown, “the three-month old Juicy Baby girl,” he said.

Mr. Brown comes to Armijo after serving as the principal at Willie Brown Middle School in San Francisco. He had earlier served at the school as an assistant principal after serving as a guidance counselor and then principal at San Francisco’s Flex Academy.
