Jalen is missing his sport, but not his passion for it.

Jalen Moore is the captain of the varsity basketball team and 2021 would have been his third year on the varsity squad if COVID had never existed.

He started playing with intensity in his sophomore year after he went to a game against Rodriguez. He loved the crowd and the excitement. He had been introduced to basketball in middle school, but it wasn’t until high school that he developed a passion for the sport.

Moore’s most common position on the Armijo team is Small Forward, or SF, but he also plays shooting guard for an Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) traveling team.

His most memorable Armijo game was against Fairfield High School when Coach Christian Stoll had not won any previous league games. Coach Stoll was 0-29 and, on Senior Night, Moore led the team to a win with 18 points. The crowd went wild and it was the best feeling Moore said he had ever had. If he had known that it might have been his last game, he would have cherished it a bit more.

Moore knows that the season for the Armijo team is still up in the air, but he is trying to keep a positive mindset during these times. Even if he doesn’t play this year, he does plan to continue playing basketball, first in college and then in Grad School. His goal is to major in Kinesiology, the study of human movement and the mechanical part of it.

While basketball takes a lot of Moore’s time, he does stay active with his church and also enjoys creating graphic designs and drawings.

Moore has three amazing siblings: two younger brothers who are 9 and 2, as well as a twin sister who lives in Sacramento.
