Students love him, ducks fear him, all with good reason.

When Mr. Cesar Correa is not teaching one of his American History or World Civilizations classes at Armijo, most people believe that he is intensively coaching the Royals in wrestling, but when he is away from campus, he enjoys hunting.

Mr. Correa started hunting when he was 12, but he didn’t get serious until he was in his 20’s.

“I hunt mostly in California, but I have hunted in Texas and Nevada, too,” he said. “I do a lot of duck hunting here at Grizzly Island.”

He hunts what he can eat and he can prepare the prey in a variety of ways. As a result, his family eats well on some very untraditional foods!

There are distinct rules about hunting and the species that can be hunted in certain times and places. Hunting also has restrictions on what weapon can be used for each species, and safety on all weapons is not optional.

Anyone who has passed the safety hunting course can get a hunting license, and anyone over the age of twelve can learn to hunt big game safely. Getting a license is relatively easy. More information can be found at https://www.hunter-ed.com/california/hunting_license/.
