Kirk Cameron shines bright in Fireproof.

If you are looking for a feel-good movie that can draw you in with a good story and take you away from all of the stress IRL, Fireproof may just be the choice.

The movie, which was released in 2008, stars Kirk Cameron as fireman Caleb Holt and Chelsea Noble who plays his wife Catherine. The couple is struggling balancing his career, with their marriage and their Christian faith. It is a romance that tells the story of Caleb, who attempts to fix his marriage within the 40 days before his divorce is final. To do so he uses a handy Christian self-care book called The Love Dare.

Fireproof is rated PG, so kids can watch it, too. It is just shy of two hours long and is available through YouTube, Netflix, and Amazon. There is also a book based on the movie, written by the same people who wrote the screenplay, Alex and Stephen Kendrick. Alex Kendrick was the director and Stephen produced the film. It cost about $500,000 to make the movie but earned $33.5 million at the box office.

I thought the movie was ok. I’m not really a romance type of person and it does have to do with God, so that might not be something everyone is comfortable with, but beyond those elements, it was a great movie that I think everyone should check out. My grandpa is Christian and really enjoyed this movie because it had a lot to do with the faith you put into people.
