Catching Jordan by Miranda Kennally was released in 2011. It is the first of eight books in the Hundred Oak series, a set of stories that takes place at the Hundred Oak High School.

The story is about a girl named Jordan who is the star quarterback of her school football team. Football is a really important thing in her family because her dad is a retired NFL player and her brother is the best player at his college. Jordan feels that her dad doesn’t care about her achievements so she ties harder. Her big problem is when another kid comes to school and could replace her spot on the team.

I thought the book was pretty cool. I could understand the problems Jordan was going through and it made the reading experience more enjoyable. I thought the love between Ty and Jordan seemed kind of fake and I’m pretty sure that was on purpose. It created an interesting love triangle between Jordan, Ty, and Ty´s best friend Sam. It became pretty clear that Jordan didn’t really love Ty but just liked things about him. Sam and Jordan actually had chemistry and cared about each other. It was also nice to see Jordan and her father improve their relationship and get past their differences. Her father had an explanation for not coming, but I still think he handled it badly. It all works out in the end, of course.

Jordan is a cool main character; she’s confident, down-to-earth and fun to hang around.

I recommend you read it, even if you’ve read any of the other of the Hundred Oak stories. It is a great place to start and the books are available in paperback, Kindle and audiobook formats from Amazon.com.
