Dedication in real life leads to a successful story in print and on film

Band of Brothers, by Stephen E. Ambrose, is about the 506th Regiment and the 101st Airborne in the European Theater. The book was first published in 1992 and was made into a movie in 2001. The story is based on the brave men who fought within this unit, suffering from conditions such as starvation and hypothermia. This company took many casualties in World War II. Band of Brothers is a very intense book, and an equally intense movie.

Both formats throw the reader into the first person perspective of World War II and telling the tale of this unit. Second Lieutenant Richard Winters was an admired man who inspired other soldiers who followed in his footsteps. He convinced them never to give up and to be as humble as he was. Because they followed him in both Basic Training and Combat, the men were outstanding loyal and in shape. Their minds and bodies were well prepared for war.

Toward the end of the book, the company disbanded, the unit members still remembered each other for their bravery and what they had done in the devastating war. The book received a customer rating of 4.4 stars out of 5 stars on Amazon.com due to its amazing storytelling and emotional bonding between the characters within this unit.
