Armijo students joined more than 400 students from 27 schools throughout the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District (FSUSD), the Benicia Unified School District, Travis Unified School District; Vacaville Unified School District and Vallejo City Unified School District as well as Holy Spirit School, Kairos Public Schools, St. Catherine of Siena and Vacaville Christian School for the annual Solano County Student Art Faire. The display was shared on Saturday, May 18 at the Solano County Fairgrounds’ McCormack Hall.

A diverse collection of 2-D and 3-D art was on display, including paintings and photographs, sculptures and more. Winning students received ribbons for first, second, third place as well as honorable mentions in each category.

The students’ entries were judged by grade groupings, beginning in fourth grade. Best in Show honors were awarded to artists in each division. The FSUSD was well represented with Best in Show winners in the Fourth – Sixth grade category (Adan Ponce from Cordelia Hills Elementary for his drawing “”Colorful Mess), Ninth – Tenth grade category (Sophia Kenoly from Early College High School with her drawing “Kaepernick: Know Your Rights”) and Eleventh – Twelfth grade category (Liana Wong from Armijo High School with her sculpture “Shrouded.”) Wong’s sculpture won first place in her category as well as the SafeQuest award at the event.

All artists received participation certificates.
