Lin Manuel Miranda’s Tony award winning Broadway musical Hamilton has smashed every expectation of what a musical is. It follows the story of 1700’s founding father, Alexander Hamilton, and his journey to rewrite America after the Revolution. Three years after its premiere, Hamilton is still being seen by thousands and is an outstanding musical that gets recognized every day.

This hip-hop and R&B inspired musical was first influenced by Ron Chernow’s Hamilton biography. From there Miranda started writing and composing until he ended with the beloved musical we know today. It instantly became a smash hit and impossible to get tickets to. Audiences fell in love with the songs and characters that came to life with the amazing cast. The unlikely topic about a founding father soon became the topic everywhere. From the news to social media Hamilton was making an appearance.

Hamilton became an inspiration to many people, telling the story of an immigrant that came from nothing to becoming a big part of American history. With African-American actors playing traditionally white roles in history, it shows that anyone can tell a story.

The Broadway musical still has performances in the U.S and now even in London. In January 2019, a three-week performance of Hamilton is being held in Puerto Rico to benefit the Falmean Arts fund. The money will be a big help after Hurricane Maria which many sites are still affected.

Hamilton is a musical phenomenon that has turned the world upside down with its songs and characters that bring this story to life. The work Lin Manuel Miranda and the cast has done to keep this story alive is incredible. If you haven’t listened to Hamilton I definitely recommend experiencing the thrill of this amazing story.
