The girls may look tough in their football gear but these male cheerleaders brought on the laughs.

On Thursday, May 24, the freshmen girls faced off the sophomore girls in a rousing game of flag football. Later in the evening, the girls from the Class of 2019 lost a hard-fought battle with girls from the Class of 2018, with a score of 27-20.

Prior to the event, there was a rally where the cheerleaders for all four teams, guys dressed in feminine cheer outfits, performed a practice run of their routines. At the rally, there was also an egg-walking race, which was fun to watch.

At the event, there was a lot going on. “From the concessions booth I can tell you it was a large and COLD crowd.  We sold out of our cup noodle in about 30 minutes.  I ran to the store and bought a bundle more of cup noodle and a bunch of hot chocolate.  We sold out of those in another 30 minutes.  So…it was a chilly but dedicated crowd,” said Ms. Sheena Beeson, Theatre teacher.

Mr. DJ Bowen announced the game and recognized the dominating players on each team. The freshmen were well represented by Abby Davis, although they lost in a very close game to the sophomores, with Monifa Mills leading the way. Within the Varsity game, the dominating players were Lewa Day (junior) and Abby Wolf (senior).

Baseball Coach Matthew Powell was refereeing and coaching at the same time for both games, which made things both entertaining and challenging.
