Graduation on Friday morning begins nearly 24-hours of celebration.

Graduation on Friday morning begins nearly 24-hours of celebration.

Graduation will held at 10 am on Friday, June 8 at Brownlee Field at Armijo High School. Gates will open at 8:30 am. All graduating seniors must participate in the two-day rehearsals on Wednesday and Thursday, June 6 and 7 at 2 pm.

Graduation entrance will only be by tickets and each senior will receive four tickets. Graduation tickets will be distributed to graduates after practice on Thursday, June 7 on the track. Students on the Non-Grad list will not be able to get their tickets until after they are cleared from their counselor.  Fire and Safety Codes regulate the number of people allowed in the stadium.  This is how the number of tickets was calculated. No one will be admitted without a ticket.

Guests are encouraged to arrive early as the administration expects to have a full house and there will be many families to accommodate. Students will also not receive their diploma or official transcripts until outstanding fees are paid, including textbook fees, library fees and more. Diplomas can be picked up after graduation in E-2, E-3, E-4, and E-5.

“AHS realizes that many families would like to invite more than four people to watch graduation. In an effort to meet this need, we will plan to live stream the graduation ceremony. Information about how to access the live stream will be available on the Armijo Website and in the school’s front office a week prior to graduation,” said Principal Sheila Smith in a letter that was sent out to the families of the members of the Class of 2018.

In order to accommodate all types of guests, parking for disabled guests will be located near tennis courts and those spaces will only be available to those with handicapped parking permits.

Students are not allowed to wear heels with their gowns because they will be walking on the field and heels can damage the surface. Altercations of any kind to the cap and gowns are not allowed.

Balloons, strollers and other large items need to be stored away before entering the field. There will be space in C-8 where these items may be checked in. No air horns or noisemakers of any type are allowed. Also, there are also no pets allowed on school grounds.

Students are encouraged to spend the day with family following the ceremony. Those who purchased tickets for Grad Night will be able to check in from 9 – 11 pm in the gym.
