Anthony Thomas is the last of Armijo’s Associated Student Body (ASB) officers to be focused on and, in the position of Officer-at-Large, he is responsible for running selected events around campus. Some of his events have included the Dodge Ball Tournament and Community Holiday earlier in the year and May’s Art Fest.

Thomas said, “Being an ASB officer places you in a crucial leadership role. You’re basically the go to person for a group of about 15 to 20 people and create daily meetings in order to progress your event, build good traits in students, or even just building trust and friends within these groups.”

Some ideals that Thomas has include a good work ethic and putting other things above himself. Events like the Community Holiday “don’t get as much light as our other events, but we get a chance to put on these events for people that don’t always get any sort of attention or support, which is a really special thing to see,” said Thomas.

“Being part of ASB is important to me because it teaches me a lot about the way I can step up and lead and work with others and build relationships,” Thomas said. He ran for office because he enjoys presenting himself with a challenge and works to be the best he can possibly be with it. “I really wanted  to be able to share my ideas and guidance.”

The position can be challenging and, while Thomas has a number of strengths, he admitted to some weaknesses as well, including a lack or organization and a sort of “all work – no play” attitude that isn’t always received well. He also said that he is sometimes forgetful.

As for strengths, Thomas does a good job helping and motivating people. “I’m at a point where I can improve my mindset and focus, but I’m sort of out of time (in Leadership) to prove in other aspects,” he said.
