For the last few weeks, people have been putting away their tank tops and shorts and taking out the hoodies and sweats. Winter in California is usually not that cold but there are some days where it gets really cold and layers make things easy to adapt to throughout the day.

During winter a lot of people tend to go into those dark colors, greys and blacks but with a few splashes of color. People wear big jackets, warm boots, gloves and more on those more blustery days in other parts of the country, but California weather is more forgiving.

Girls at Armijo tend to wear clothes that are warm and match. “I don’t really like to dress up when it gets cold,” said Emily Mauk. “I’d rather be warm than freezing while looking nice.”

Isabel Castañeda likes to dress up for the winter. She always finds a way to match. “I go for the darker colors most of the time,” she said. “Sometimes, when I really want to look nice, I like to wear a scarf. They keep me warm and they’re also kinda stylish.”

While beanies, boots, and big jackets are popular, everyone is different. Even in the coldest weather, some people are out in just a sweater and regular sneakers, like Xavier Jenkins. “I’m a guy so I don’t really care about how I look. I’m more of a jacket and sneakers type of guy,” he said.
