Saying Hello to a New School Year at Armijo

August 14, 2017

Welcome back from summer vacation, Armijo High students!

For this edition of the Armijo Signal, Co-Editors in Chief, Isabella Roxas and Royce Guo have collaborated to welcome new and returning students of Armijo High.

Isabella:

The Armijo Signal is up and running and ready to provide quality coverage of your school throughout this school year. Now that a new school year has arrived, it is time to pick up your pencils once again and kick your brain into gear. We have all had our fair share of summer memories, but it is now back to the classrooms!

However, it may not be as bad as it seems: Armijo High 2017-18 will be where students, teachers, and faculty learn new lessons, grasp new concepts, make new memories, and grow into a better person than before. As your Co-Editor-in-Chiefs for the Armijo Signal, we are overjoyed to give our peers brand new perspectives of Armijo High School and even have some fun while doing so.

Royce:

Thanks, Isabella. From bright eyed freshman to rising seniors who have already contracted senioritis, Isabella and I hope that you will come into the new school year with a freshly sharpened view of Armijo. As we return to class and the monotony of school comes rushing back into our lives, we hope that you will continue to seek out new stories and continue to dream big.

Finding your own place within a student population of 2,400+ may seem completely frightening, but more often than not, you will find your new circle, whether in band, sports, or even between passing periods. From coming to your first football tailgate to saying a tearful goodbye to those graduating, this year will be a ride full of surprises, heartfelt moments, and yes, some school induced stress.

This year, Armijo will once again come to life, filled with spirit marches and sports games; this school year will mark another page in your high school journey. As writer Jack Kerouac said, “I saw that my life was a vast glowing empty page and I could do anything I wanted.

Our theme for August is Youth Activism, a subject close to heart for many Armijo students. We hope that you will turn to The Armijo Signal to discover more about the clubs, students, and events that surround you.
