Would you like to go study somewhere relatively warm year-round, where it is neither too cold nor too hot? San Diego State University (SDSU) is just that type of school. It is a public research university, located in San Diego, California, which is close enough to home to visit, but far enough away to live near or on campus.
SDSU was founded in 1897, and it is the third-oldest university of the CSU system, which includes 23 schools.
The university offers bachelor’s degrees in 97 areas, master’s degrees in 84 fields, 23 doctoral degrees, and 82 certificate programs. Additionally, there are undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and certificate programs in many areas, from accounting and aerospace studies to theatre and women’s studies. According to US News.com, the acceptance rate for San Diego State University is around 37%, as they are more selective with who they admit. Additionally, around half of the applicants had an SAT score in between 1090 and 1300 and an ACT score in between 22 and 29. The applicant’s GPA is also very important, which the university looks at when accepting students, but class rank and letters of recommendation are not counted for. The application fee is $70.
SDSU is ranked #148 in National Universities, which is a good position. Additionally, in-state tuition and fees are around $8,000, which is far better than the out-of-state tuition and fees of about $20,000. Keep in mind the cost of room and board, books and supplies, transportation and personal expenses as well. But financial aid is available for students, which can come in the form of student grants, loans, and scholarships. You can also fill out the FAFSA form, which is recommended by many experts, as every year, thousands of dollars are being unclaimed by students.
Some notable alumni from San Diego State University include engineer and former astronaut Ellen Ochoa, actor Gregory Peck, retired actress Marion Ross, and actor and former professional football player Carl Weathers.
