On August 21, AHS will host Freshman Orientation from 12pm – 5pm. Incoming students will take care of business, like picking up their Chromebooks and English Springboard textbook. They will also have the opportunity to learn more about sports, clubs, procedures and more.

The day will start with icebreakers at noon where the students will break into smaller groups that will tour around the campus in 25-minute intervals. At 3:45, all students in the big gym for a “Student Athlete” presentation by Positive Coaching Alliance, followed by the annual Freshman Fair. 

At the Freshman Fair, there will be a barbecue and a chance for new students to speak to the leaders and coaches for clubs and sports, giving everyone a one-on-one chance to see what opportunities are available in the upcoming year.

Parents do not attend this orientation. Students can be dropped off in front of the basketball gym as early as 11:45 am. There will be a big sign identifying the location. Freshmen may want to bring a bag/backpack to put the new Chromebook and textbook in, as well as any collected flyers from clubs and sports. The pictures taken that day will serve as both a student ID (cards will be issued) and a yearbook photo, so dress according.

That evening, at 6 pm, all parents of 9th grade students are invited to join us to meet some of our staff and learn more about Armijo. Parents will have an opportunity to learn more about how to join the Parent Center. We will provide answers to frequently asked questions. You also will have an opportunity to learn more about opportunities for you to participate in your child’s education.

On September 12, all parents are invited to Back to School Night. More information about this evening will be available at https://www.fsusd.org/Domain/8, the Armijo High School website.
