Dominic Haber isn’t new to wrestling. He is in his second year in the Armijo program and he had a little influence to join the team. Haber has three older brothers and a little sister. “I feel that two of my older brothers are my role models because they are the ones that I looked up to and in the past I’ve tried to make the same decisions as them,” he said. “My brothers Alex (24) and Ricky (19) participated in wrestling and, once I realized how fun it was, I wanted to join.”

“I am in the 106 lbs. weight class,” Haber said. “My most memorable meet for wrestling was my first Varsity tournament of this year, The Amador Valley High School duals. At this meet I went 4-0 with all pins.”

Haber has been part of the Armijo baseball team, but that isn’t his primary sport. Wrestling is a sport that Haber expects to help him get through high school, but he does not plan to play in college. “When I graduate, I plan to go to college in the engineering field,” he said, although he has not decided which college will have the honor.

Although he does not plan to play sports in college, he would advise others to get involved, at least in high school “Go for it because, if you don’t even try it, there is a 100% guarantee that you will dislike it,” he said. “When I started wrestling, I wasn’t sure if it was for me, but I kept going.”

While he spends most of his time focused on school and wrestling, Haber is happy with the way things work at Armijo. “I don’t think I would change anything,” he said. “I feel that the way the faculty and staff here at Armijo High School run things are perfectly fine.
