“I never had any plans to play football,” confessed Kovi Walls. “I was just going to play basketball and my friends told me I should come and try out.” Basketball may just have to wait. He would encourage others to pursue sports but also to practice what they can in the games and not just in the practice.

“My first game is my most memorable, when I scored my first touchdown,” he said. After a lot of things had happened during that game, he was very frustrated. “I wasn’t even planning to get in the game anymore. My coach told me to get in to do a toss play. We were on the other side of the goal posts. I was nervous because I thought I was going to mess the play up. The quarterback called ‘Hike!’ I got the ball and took off and scored. Everyone was happy for the touchdown.

Walls knows that his focus on his future should not be limited to sports. “Any college would be good to play in as long as I get my education,” he said. He is considering a career as an engineer.

In his spare time, he enjoys playing music. “I tried to make beats, but I’m not that good at it,” he said. As with everything, though, with enough practice and enough passion, he is sure to get better.
