“An LMU education prepares students to thrive as global citizens, successful professionals, and well-rounded men and women for others,” the Loyola Marymount University (LMU) website proudly proclaims.

LMU is a top-ranked Catholic university. It was ranked #3 in the West. According to U.S. News & World Report and features a Jesuit education. It was founded in 1911. “We are committed to fostering a diverse academic community rich in opportunities for intellectual engagement and real-world experience,” states their website.

The school offers 60 major and 55 minor undergraduate degrees and programs as well as 39 master’s degree programs, one education doctorate, one juris doctorate, one doctorate of juridical science and 10 credential/authorization programs. Their faculty and staff faculty includes winners of both the Nobel and Pulitzer Prizes.

While the school is located in the heart of Los Angeles, the nearly 10,000 students come from all over the world. Despite the numbers, there is a strong student-to-faculty ratio of about 11 to 1.

If cost seems to be an issue, realize that the majority of students receive financial aid. And the social life is enhanced by the presence of over 150 student organizations and nearly 20 National Greek sororities and fraternities. In fact, the Princeton Review ranked LMU #7 for having the most “Students Most Engaged in Community Service.” That involvement includes nearly 200,000 volunteer hours spent last year for hundreds of community organizations.

Sports are also a major contributing factor for its success and the website claims “22 NCAA Division I and varsity sports in the West Coast Conference.” They also have an award winning media selection. For more information, go to www.lmu.edu and discover what LMU has to offer you.
