Appreciating Military Families is Just a Kind Word Away

People in the military do a lot for the country. Being in the military is one of the most honorable professions in the United States. For their hard work, selflessness, and devotion, people in the military are praised. So to be in the military while also a parent is one of the most respectable lives a person can live. In honor of them, and doubly because it’s Military Family Awareness Month, consider the following ways to honor and celebrate their sacrifice for our country:

The most common way of thanking all that the military does for us is to donate time or money. Handwriting a letter of gratitude is also not uncommon. Visit an older or wounded veteran if you can, or, if it’s more in your comfort zone, foster the pet of a militarian that’s being deployed.

A stranger—but very fun—way of showing you appreciate military families, is to “flock” them. In other words, decorate their front yard with an abundance of plastic pink flamingos to show that you care. You can do it alone, or get a couple of friends or the neighbourhood to pitch in. It could be a fee to plant one, or a free project. Two days later is the typical time to clean up.

However you want to show your support to military families is a good way. There’s nothing wrong with showing just a little bit more love and kindness in the world.
