Manuelita Chavos Burgos used to live on a ranch in Mexico, but now she lives in Fairfield with her aunt.

Chavos originally came to the United States in September to learn English. She said that she misses her family the most and hopes to move back to her home country some day.

As an Armijo student, Chavos said that her favorite class is English. Her teacher for both 1st and 2nd period is Ms. Sara Johnson whose instructions help Chavos get her day started every morning.

While she is only a sophomore learning English now, Chavos has some big dreams. She hopes to go to college and study archeology. Her goal is to find a career in the field, discovering new things in history just as she is discovering new things in her own life.

One of the things that Chavos has clung to from her hometown is her love of Banda music. One of the new things she would like to learn is the steps to getting into a sports team. With her positive attitude, there are bound to be teams that would be very happy to have her as a member.
