Ms. Beeson proudly shows off the award she earned in last year’s production.

On Sunday, October 7, The Artys award show was held at the downtown theatre in Fairfield. The Artys is a Solano and Napa County high school and community theatre annual awards show, like a local version of the Tony Awards.

Armijo Theatre Productions was nominated for 13 awards during the evening including Outstanding Comedy or Drama for The Murder Mystery at the Murder Mystery and Outstanding Musical for Little Shop of Horrors.

Competition included schools like, Benicia High School, Justin Sienna, Rodriguez, Fairfield, American Canyon, and quite a few others.

Ms. Sheena Beeson, Armijo’s theatre teacher and program director, walked away with one award for lighting design in the murder mystery. “We had a fabulous night celebrating the vibrant performing arts communities in our and surrounding areas,” said Ms. Beeson.

“It’s such a cool experience for me to expose my students to, so I thought I would share with my professional community, especially since so many of you have specifically supported our program on many occasions. Here’s to you!” Ms. Beeson said. “And here’s to making art and entertainment for many years to come!”

Members of the Drama Club were no less dramatic at the annual awards celebration.
