My name is Kayla Reynolds and I am the People Editor and Co-Editor-in-Chief for the 2018-2019 school year. I chose to be a part of the Journalism club because I have a passion for writing. This is my fourth year writing for The Armijo Signal.

I found out about the club during freshman year  from my sister, Trina Reynolds, who was also a writer and editor. I also had Ms. Lynne Herring as my English teacher during sophomore year.

I became a People editor because I like hearing about what students are up to on campus, whether that is in clubs, volunteer, work, or other things. While I am involved in many clubs and sports myself, I am interesting in getting to know other people’s interests.  

I love my position as Co-Editor-in-Chief. In that position, I come up with a themes for various issues which includes ideas for a central focus, a poll question and a Question of the Month. Along with that, there are related club, college, sports and class articles. I love being able to choose the central theme because it opens doors for me to write about things that I am passionate about and to share that passion with others on the staff.  

Being involved with The Armijo Signal has strengthened my writing and communication skills. Writing a couple of articles each month and also editing has improved my ability to structure a good sentence and broaden my vocabulary. Taking a leadership role during my senior year, I have noticed that my communication skills have definitely improved.
