GTA V (fancy roman numerals) Review

(WARNING: this game is rated M(17+) so do not play if your guardian doesn’t allow it.)

It’s about time someone reviewed this game. Grand Theft Auto V is a Rockstar North game released September 13, 2013 on the Sony PlayStation 3 and the XBox 360. The 14th (technically 15th) game in the GTA series, is by FAR the best game in the series.

The story is unique as it takes three characters that have completely different stories and somehow brings them together in a way that makes sense. Michael De Santa (originally named Michael Townley), a married man living a life of crime with his partner in crime, Trevor Phillips (originally Trevor Phillips), separate after robbing a bank. Basically the entire police department goes after them. Michael gets shot and (supposedly) dies, while Trevor escapes and is not seen for about nine years.

You see Michael, still alive, in counseling for his failing marriage with Amanda De Santa. Then you cut to Franklin Clinton, who is having some gang problems and has a shootout that almost loses him his job, all over a motorcycle. He gets fired after breaking into Michael’s house and stealing his son’s car on the order of Simion, his boss. He then finds out that Michael was in the back the whole time and pointed a gun to Franklin’s head, giving him orders to ram the car through the shops window. The story goes from there since that’s how Franklin and Michael become friends. (Is not this confusing in game?)

There is also a GTA online where you are in an open world doing missions with some custom ones that are really cool, such as a game where a group of people without weapons hides from a machete-wielding person. After a period of time, the hiders get shotguns.

There are also GTA story mode-ey missions and even ones that include Trevor as a focus character. You get money and RP (reputation points) for every time you complete a mission. RP unlocks cars, and weapons for you to buy. This is, of course, the EXP system of the game. The money helps you buy houses, cars, the guns that you unlock, clothing, all kinds of stuff. But that’s not the only character customization available; you get to customize your character’s ethnicity by choosing parents for them.

The game runs really well on console and PC, if you have a good PC. The physics are realistic unless you turn on moon gravity, of course. The game runs on the RAGE (Rockstar Advanced Gaming Engine) which is, as it is named, advanced. The public gives this game a mean of 4.5 stars and I give it a 5 star rating personally.
