Grandson is a songwriter who wrote thoughts and prayers and Blood in the Water. Thoughts and prayers is about how politicians are sending out their thoughts and prayers to the victims of the February 14 attack at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and other mass shootings that have happened worldwide. The song thoughts and prayers is pretty upbeat for a song about something serious, yet it works. The song has a punk rock theme as does Blood in the Water. The song’s impact is emphasized by the addition of the West Los Angeles Children’s Choir singing along with grandson to spread the message.

According to Moxie music, grandson “debuted the song live March 23 at a pre-March For Our Lives event at Los Angeles’ Winston House, surrounded by the West Los Angeles Children’s Choir, whose members wore black t-shirts numbered 1-17 to represent the one teacher and 17 students killed in the Parkland shooting.”

He is trying to push and make a change in the world with his music. Both songs use music to help spread more of a message. grandson feels “the responsibility of rock and rock is to provide a certain commentary, sense of urgency, sense of aggression. It’s important that we try to prevent things like shootings to try and make the world a better and safer place to live in,” according to his interview with Moxie music. Music like from grandson may just do that.
