Sebastian makes a presentation, something he may have to do often in college.

The funny, quiet, rational but sincere Sebastian Duarte is soon to be an Armijo alumnus. Although the last month of high school is half-way through, Duarte feels happy because he’s excited to go to college and challenge himself.

Duarte is looking forward to a career that will accent his interest in robotics, which is his favorite class at Armijo. He will be taking an Intro to Engineering class at Sacramento State, his dream college, and hopes to become a Computer Engineer. In Robotics, he’s learned more about Engineering on a day-to- day basis. The reason behind Duarte’s strong determination to be an engineer is because, when he was younger, he was interested in electronics like computers, video game consoles, phones, and more and, since then, he has wanted to work in this field, either creating new electronics or simply making them better.

During Duarte’s high school career he faced some challenges, primarily due to procrastination, and he let that get in the way of his studies, but he learned his lesson. He plans to be more focused in college.

While school is important, it does not define Duarte, who said that he is interested in music, mostly on vinyl. He collects both compact discs (CDs) and actual vinyl records. On the weekends he hangs out with family up in Sacramento or does activities with his dad.
