Have you ever wondered exactly where fishnet stockings became so popular? Vintage clothes have recently swept the fashion industry with its cultured inspirations and downright quirky looks. Nonetheless, people have seemed to take quite a liking to the recent retro looks, whether it comes to pops of neon or denim skirts. Throughout the past, both men and women have gone through style changes –  denim, leather, baggy, slim-fitting, silk, long, short, you name it! And once those fashions have run their course, they are quickly replaced, often with a new version of an old fashion.

The 40s was the ultimate starting point to vintage fashion. This is where pin up dresses and suit jackets came into style. Many of the clothing from this era were modest as they sported florals, plaids, stripes, and plenty of fur to cover the world! Fedoras, berets, bonnets, and hair scarves topped the heads of men and women everywhere. Men couldn’t help but indulge themselves in wacky and wistful colors, mostly on ties, but these colors extended to suspenders used for holding up a pair of formal-casual trousers. This was the age that continues to influence men’s and women’s fashions, especially in a working environment. This is the age when people made appearances with a galore of suit jackets and dresses, as well as the guidance to a masculine style that allowed women to wear suits, still seen to this day. Many women fashioned themselves with pencil skirts and trench coats, items appearing in fashion still after decades and decades.

All and all, many people of this generation have taken up looks specifically from the later 1900s, the 70s, 80s, and, especially, the 90s. Overalls and denim have swept the current years, flaunted by many in the fashion industry and people of popular influence. Most young women have recently been seen in ripped fitted jeans, accessorizing with the creative and confident flair of fishnets. Many people represent in colorful bomber jackets, striking a playful aura due to the bright hues. And of course there are no exceptions to the recently popular black and white checkered Vans that have returned first to store shelves and then to school campuses.

Popular styles and fabrics have been represented through emotional auras, whether it be silk to promote a more sensual look, leather to promote a rebellious and cool look, or denim to promote a casual grunge look. Overall, vintage culture is back in, so wear it out!
